Two New Orleans originals just made something new together.
CR Coffee has teamed up with Ecology Beer Creative to brew CR Coffee Canopy, a small-batch coffee and vanilla porter clocking in at 5.8% ABV and 29 IBU. CR Coffee supplies the beans. Ecology handles the brewing. The result is a dark, smooth porter with real coffee depth and a touch of vanilla on the finish.
Kevin Pedeaux has been roasting coffee on antique roasters since 2009, and CR Coffee has been pouring at St. Roch Market since day one. With three locations across the city, including the Magazine Street shop and inside St. Roch Market, CR Coffee has built its name on that old-school, small-batch approach to roasting. That same coffee now anchors this porter.
Over in Central City, Ecology Beer Creative at 1401 Baronne Street is where the brewing happens. At the helm is Mark Wilson, who spent years as Brewmaster at Abita Brewing Company, Louisiana's largest craft brewery. At Abita, Wilson led the charge on beers like Restoration Pale Ale after Hurricane Katrina and SOS Pilsner after the BP oil spill, raising over a million dollars for relief causes along the way. Now he's bringing that experience to Ecology's craft-forward taproom, and CR Coffee Canopy is one of his first collaborations out of the new house.
CR Coffee Canopy is their first release together, the newest, smallest batch, craftiest of craft beers to come out of the St. Roch Market family.
You can find it on tap now at Roch's Reprieve inside St. Roch Market and at Ecology Brewery in Central City. Small batch means limited supply. Come try it while it lasts.
